pre-christmas bloggins

after being inspired by the other amazing mommies who post on here, i figured, why not try? we've been gearing up for Christmas for the past few weeks, and i'm so excited for Mikaela's first one!! we're going pretty low key this year, hoping that the grandparents will do the spoiling as we just bought our house a few months ago [i was in labour while we signed the papers, no word of a lie. i don't really know what i signed, heehee]. one thing i hope to pass on to Mik is that Christmas is so much more than society has made it out to be. this overcommercialization is getting a WEE bit ridiculous. i don't know how we're going to deal with this quite yet, but we'll figure it out.
Mik was with Nana and Papa for the past 2 nights. WOOT! other new mommies just give me a wide eyed stare when i tell them that she's been on several since birth, and that i enjoy having a night with just my husband. i swear i'm not a bad mom! they love having her over, especially since she sleeps through the night usually. so i don't usually think twice about giving her over for an evening. but 2 nights was a little long, i think. we missed her like crazy!!! it just felt so empty in our house, and we wondered what we did before Mikaela was born. It just seems like she's always been with us, and i don't really know what to do without her here. I don't know what couples do without kids. i know so many couples that don't have kids that are scared to have them for the fact that once you have kids, it's not about you anymore. it seems awfully daunting from the outside, but once the babies come, it's bliss. Our godparents, Chris and Julie, just welcomed baby boy Kai a few days ago, and i am overjoyed that they have officially joined the club! we joke that we're going to have an arranged marriage between our babies, but really would it be that bad? lol!
